The Global Food Providers (GFP) farm and dehydration center in Chiriquí is dedicated to combating malnutrition by preserving nutrient-dense foods. Using a commercial-level dehydrator system, they process and package surplus fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste. Through a careful process of heat and airflow, GFP extracts up to 90% of the water content, preserving the food for up to a year. When processed under 118 degrees Fahrenheit, these items retain their living amino acids, offering maximum nutritional value. The foods can be eaten as-is or easily reconstituted in water or soups. These preserved superfoods are donated to local nonprofits, charities, and churches working hard to feed at-risk children, widows, and the poor. The project relies on community support and tax-deductible donations to cover operational costs, and they frequently host volunteer mornings for locals to help process the food.
